Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, online sales for home products grew exponentially. According to a Harvard University study, “home improvement expenses increased from $404 billions of dollars in 2019, to $611 billions of dollars in 2022.”
Home improvement enterprises faced a great challenge: their e-commerce platforms were not prepared to support the number of clients that were buying during peak sale days. This problem resulted in frequent site crashes, which resulted in millions in losses during moments of a high number of sales.
Therefore, this international enterprise, known as a leader in its industry, needed to improve its online sales platform.
Because of this, the company decided to implement performance testing tools. They wanted to be able to replicate a peak sales day, whether it was a Mother’s Day, Hot Sale, among others.
After testing various tools without success, they decided to hire Getecsa, because we had experience working with them on their manual tests. In just a few days, a proof of concept was made with the NeoLoad tool. When they realized it worked perfectly, they decided to implement it.
The NeoLoad tool allowed to simulate up to 40,000 concurrent users, replicating peak traffic days in a precise manner. This way, they were able to identify the e-commerce’s weak points, and to make the right changes to avoid future crashes.

With these performance tests, they were able to identify the root causes of the crashes and verify that the corrections were the right ones before launch.
Thanks to the implementation, the client has been able to have a platform completely without crashes, with fewer interruptions, and the possibility to stabilize their sales during high-demand seasons.
We are still working with the client, having executed more than 600 hours of testing time to date. We make tests up to 40,000 concurrent users, and build 8 scripts in 8 hours.
